Frequently Asked Questions

System & Installation

Which browsers and devices does Fireside support?

Fireside is a desktop browser extension, published on the Chrome Web Store for Google Chrome.

Because it's built on Chromium, it also works on other Chromium-based desktop browsers, such as Microsoft Edge, Brave, Opera, and Vivaldi. In those browsers, install it from the Chrome Web Store, you may first need to allow extensions from other stores when prompted.

Fireside is NOT currently available on Safari, Firefox, or other non-Chromium browsers.

Fireside is NOT currently available on mobile devices.

Which streaming platforms does Fireside support?

Fireside supports Crunchyroll, Netflix, and Hulu, for both shows and movies, with more streaming platforms planned. The extension only activates on supported watch pages.

Do I need my own account for the streaming service?

Yes. Fireside doesn't stream video itself, it adds reactions on top of the streaming service you're already watching. You'll need your own access to the streaming service being used to watch video content (such as Crunchyroll, Netflix, or Hulu).

How do I install Fireside?

Install Fireside from the Chrome Web Store and click "Add to Chrome." Then open a supported watch page, the Fireside tab will appear on the right edge of the screen.

How do I know Fireside is working?

On a supported watch page with a video playing, look for the Fireside tab on the right edge of the screen and click it to open the panel. If you don't see it, refresh the page.

Does Fireside work in fullscreen?

Not in the player's native fullscreen mode. When a video goes fullscreen, the browser shows only the video player, so the Fireside panel is hidden until you exit fullscreen.

To watch with Fireside open, use the player in its normal (windowed) view, or a "theater"/wide mode if the streaming service offers one. You can also maximize your browser window for a near-fullscreen experience with the panel still visible.

Reacting on Fireside

Do I need a Fireside account to react?

No. You start as an anonymous user and can react right away, no sign-up required. An account is only needed to purchase and use Fireside Lit.

How do I react?

Open the Fireside panel and click an emoji while the video plays to drop a reaction at that moment. Each emoji can be used once per 5-second window.

Can I undo a reaction?

Yes. Your own reactions are highlighted in the list. Click one to remove it. It disappears for you right away, and others stop seeing it on their next visit to the episode.

Is Fireside spoiler-free?

Yes. Reactions only appear as you reach their moment in the episode, so you won't see what's coming up.

Why don't I see any reactions yet?

Two reasons are normal: reactions only appear as you reach their moment (to stay spoiler-free), and on a quieter episode you may simply be one of the first to react. Keep watching, and they'll show up as you go.

Why don't I see many reactions on some videos?

Fireside reactions are community-driven. If a video has not received many reactions yet, you may only see your own reactions or a smaller reaction timeline. Invite friends or other fans to react so the shared timeline grows over time!

Will my reactions stay with my account?

When you create an account, the reactions from your anonymous session are kept and linked to it. If you log out, a new anonymous session begins, and any reactions made afterward are not linked to your account.

Can I use the same Fireside account across different streaming platforms?

Yes. One Fireside account works everywhere Fireside is supported. Whether you're on Crunchyroll, Netflix, or Hulu, you stay signed in to the same account, your reactions and any Fireside Lit access carry across all of them.

Fireside UI Elements

What do the timestamps in the reaction list mean?

Each row in the reaction list is a moment in the episode. Reactions are grouped into 5-second windows and shown next to the time they were made, so you can see exactly when the crowd reacted.

Why are some reactions highlighted?

The highlighted reactions are the ones you left. It's an easy way to spot your own contributions, and the ones you can click to undo.

What is the graph at the top of the panel?

It's the Reaction Activity graph, a quick view of how busy each part of the episode was. Like the list, it only fills in up to where you've watched, so it never hints at what's coming.

What does the watcher count mean? What is "Campfire active"?

"👥 N watching" shows how many other people are on the same episode right now. When you're watching solo but the episode has had recent reactions, you'll see "🔥 Campfire active" instead, a sign others have been here recently.

Can I move or hide the panel?

Drag the Fireside tab to reposition it (its spot is remembered), and enable transparent mode in Settings to make the panel translucent so it doesn't block the video.

Why did the Fireside panel disappear?

The panel hides itself when no video is playing and reappears on a supported watch page. It also refreshes automatically when you move between episodes. If it doesn't come back, refresh the page.

Privacy & Security

Who can see my reactions?

Anyone watching the same episode can see the reactions left there, including yours. They're tied to a random ID, never to your name or email.

Does Fireside see my streaming passwords or activity on other sites?

No. Fireside only accesses supported watch pages to show reactions. It doesn't collect your streaming passwords and doesn't monitor your activity on unrelated websites. See our Privacy Policy for details.

How is my data handled?

We don't sell your data. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.

Fireside Lit

What's included in Fireside Lit?

Fireside Lit unlocks premium panel themes, an expanded, customizable reaction bar, and Reaction Insights (a spoiler-gated summary of a title's reactions). See the Fireside Lit page for the full list and pricing.

How do I customize my reaction bar?

With Fireside Lit, open Settings and choose Customize reaction bar, or tap the + button at the end of the reaction bar. Pick your five reactions from the library and drag to reorder.

How do I change the panel theme?

In Settings, choose Theme and pick from the premium themes. Your choice is saved per device.

What is Reaction Insights and how do I open it?

Reaction Insights is a whole-title summary: Hot Moments, Community Mood, and Top Reactions. Because it covers the full title, it stays collapsed behind a "May contain spoilers" prompt; tap to expand when you're ready. Tapping a Hot Moment jumps the video to that timestamp.

Is Fireside Lit a subscription?

No. Fireside Lit is a one-time purchase that unlocks the premium features for good.

I bought Fireside Lit but it hasn't unlocked.

Access is granted within a few seconds of a successful payment. If it doesn't appear, make sure you're still signed in to the account you purchased with, return to your streaming tab, and give it a moment to refresh. If it still doesn't unlock, email us and we'll sort it out.

What is your refund policy?

If you're unhappy with Fireside Lit, contact us within 14 days of purchase and we'll happily issue a refund. Refunds revoke access to Lit features.

Troubleshooting

  • Refresh the streaming page.
  • Make sure you're on a supported watch page with a video playing.
  • Sign in again if Lit features don't appear after purchase.
